The Stake Relief Society Service Day

The Stake Relief Society Service Day and General Relief Society Broadcast will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

SCHEDULE:
4:00 - 6:00 pm - Various services projects, including completing any unfinished quilts
6:00 - 7:00 pm - Dinner
7:00 - 9:00 pm - General Women's Broadcast

QUILTS:
EACH ward or branch is responsible for bringing 3 to 5 handmade quilts, with at least 2 of the quilts being twin bed size.

Will you help our Ward by making a CRIB/LAP SIZE quilt and donating it to our Stake Service Project? The fabric can be for a child or an adult. These are a great size for taking a nap or watching tv, so consider making one for an  adult, too.  These quilts do not have to be pieced, but should be completely finished. Bring them to the Stake Center that Saturday.

Sisters interested in helping tie the unfinished quilts can work on the quilts between 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

OLD CELL PHONES:
They will be collecting old cell phones - it doesn't matter if they are broken or in working condition. For each cell phone we donate, a service man or woman will receive a calling card which is worth 100 free minutes toward calling home.  That is a savings of about $700 per card due to the high cost of calling,

COUPONS:
They will be collecting manufacturer coupons (Kraft, Campbells, etc) again this year for our military personel. No store coupons, please. The expiration date does not matter as military personel can use manufacturer coupons up to 6 months after they have expired. There will be tables set up for sisters who are interested in clipping coupons. This is another great way to do service while visiting with one another.

KIDZ HARBOR:
They are also collecting "fun" food for a local children's shelter.  The shelter tries to have a movie night every Friday and serve fun foods when they are available.  These children do not get any "fun" foods unless the foods are donated because their operating budget is too tight for nonessentials. By "fun" food, we are talking about any type of candy, chips, popcorn, or 2 liter soda.

FOOD DRIVE:
We have the opportunity to help support a canned food drive for Bay Area Turning Point buy providing them with any type of canned food.

It would be GREAT if each sister could bring 1 "fun" food item and 1 canned item with them on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

Thanks for all you do, Sisters! You will be greatly blessed!
