101 Delicious ways to use Powdered Milk! Well, almost!

We had the most wonderful, delicious class on actually using the powdered milk that we have in our food storage. Wendy D.  prepared for months to share her ideas and recipes and we were amazed, delighted and totally impressed! We LOVED it!

We started the evening with a Tasters Table comparing four different milks-- instant powdered milk, Gossners/Borden milk, Swiss Whey and Morning Moo. Many of us thought that the Swiss Whey tasted the best. And, an interesting fact that we learned was that the Swiss Whey milk has less lactose in it. That makes is more digestible for those who have lactose-intolerances.

Wendy made many, many things for us to eat... fudgesicles, macaroni & cheese, cream of chicken soup, 3 different ranch salad dressings, wheat bread, yogurt, cottage cheese, cream cheese, cheesecake, caramel sauce, tootsie rolls and mayonnaise. Hmmm, hmmm! Did I forget anything?

     The cheese cakes and fudgesicles...

The wheat bread and mayonnaise with the ranch salad dressings hiding up there in the corner....

The caramel sauce with apples slices...

We talked and ate, ate and talked for most of the evening!

Now, for the tootsie roll recipe...

 Tootsie Rolls
2 T. butter, softened
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
3 cups powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla
3/4 c. non-instant powdered milk
1/2 c. white corn syrup

Mix all ingredients together. Knead like bread. Roll into a log shape and cut into desired lengths. If too soft, add more powdered milk or cocoa powder and adjust to taste. Wrap in waxed paper.

How easy is that? And, it was REALLY good! Thank you, Wendy!
